Manufacturers and suppliers are structured records. Each one carries a logo, a status, tags and paperwork, and every part number in the library traces back to the company that makes or sells it.

Company records
Every manufacturer is a structured record
Most libraries store the manufacturer as a text column, and it shows: three spellings of the same vendor, and nowhere to put anything you know about them. In Sideband each manufacturer and supplier is a record of its own, with a logo, website, description, status, tags and notes, referenced by every component that uses it.

The sourcing chain
Every name the part goes by
A manufacturer names the part once. That name is the MPN, and it lives on the component. Under each MPN sit supplier part numbers: the same physical part, as each vendor that stocks it sells it. The chain is structured data, so a Digi-Key order code and an LCSC C-number resolve to the same component instead of two lookalike rows.

Search
Type a manufacturer, find its parts
Component search understands companies: company names resolve into the query, so typing 'Murata' alongside a value and a package finds the parts that carry it. No separate manufacturer filter, no remembering an ID.

Built-in suppliers
LCSC comes wired in
LCSC ships as a built-in supplier, so an LCSC part number has a proper home from the start. That one link is what lets board exports resolve C-numbers on their own; the JLCPCB BOM on the Boards page is just reading what the supplier record already knows.

Attachments
The paperwork stays with the company
Framework agreements and QC reports, the documents that belong to a vendor relationship, attach to the company record itself, next to its notes. When a question about a supplier comes up, the answer is on their page, where the whole team can find it.

Quick pickers
Hundreds of companies, and the picker stays quick
Company logos are most of a company record by weight. The list endpoints have a lite mode that leaves them out, so the picker asking 'which manufacturer?' fetches just the names. It opens quickly even once the catalogue runs to hundreds of records.
